The Wilton Baseball and Softball Association is pleased to announce pre-registration is open for the 2012 summer travel softball season. Wilton competes in the Fairfield County Fast-pitch Softball League (FCFSL) where Wilton teams will play against other local area travel teams.
The purpose of the summer travel program is for girls (ages 8-16) to experience a higher level of competition by playing teams from other local towns. The focus for the summer program is to build skills, to teach girls the game of softball through game competition, and to have fun.
Age level cut-offs (10 and under, 12 and under, etc.) are based on the player’s age on 12/31/2011. Time commitment will be from the end of May through the end of July. Teams will be coached by independent paid coaches who have played or have coached at the high school level. The player cost of the program will be around $300 per player, which covers coaches, insurance, umpires, and end of season tournament fees.
Tryouts for the 10u Wilton Wild Things (coached by Pam Nessel and Christa Nessel) have already been completed.
Tryouts for the 12u Wilton Blue Crush (coached by Heather Sabino and Jim Sabino) will be held on Saturday, May 19th from 10:00am - 12:00 pm and Sunday, May 20th 10:00am - 12:00pm. Player candidates must attend BOTH sessions to be considered for the team.
14u and 16u teams will be formed for the 2012 season as needed based
on the number of players expressing interest through the on-line pre-registration.
If your daughter is interested in playing this summer please pre-register through the REGISTER ONLINE tab on the left menu of this page. For more information or questions please contact Pam Nessel, WBSA Travel Softball League Director-
.
NOTE: This is NOT a registration to play, but only a means to communicate with those players interested in trying out for a summer travel team. The information from this registration will also be used to inform and update interested players of dates, times, and locations for tryouts in May. Once tryouts have been completed the selected players will be given details regarding registration.
