Derek Natalie

Derek Natalie brings 15 years of coaching experience at the youth, intermediate, and high school age levels including Little League, Cal Ripken, Junior & Senior Babe Ruth, and AAU travel from 12U to 19U.

During that time Derek has served on the board of local Little League and Babe Ruth organizations and has organized and run many in season / off season player development clinics and workouts as well as coaches clinics on their behalf.  Derek’s coaching philosophy is simple.  He wants to give his players the physical and mental tools that they need to prepare for their next level of play, whatever that may be.

Before joining the WBSA, Derek ran a Babe Ruth house league program where he was instrumental in converting the program from the traditional format to one focused on skillset development and proper preparation for high school baseball.  Most notably, Derek helped to design a “spring training” program for non-high school players that focuses on fundamentals like hitting and throwing mechanics, footwork, conditioning and baseball IQ rather than the historical “draft your team and play ball” mindset.  The league continues to run their early spring season this way and many other towns in Fairfield County are following suit.

Off the field, Derek is a respected property & casualty insurance professional and entrepreneur.  Derek also has 20 plus years of athletic training experience including powerlifting, strength and conditioning, and circuit training and has completed training in First-Aid and Concussion protocols.
